Calathea Roseopicta is a member of the Prayer Plant family and naturally grows beneath the Brazilian rainforest canopy. Its broad tropical foliage has a feathery pattern of bright pinks and fuschias that looks hand-painted on the deep green leaves. The colored stripes tend to whiten with age. The Rose painted calathea, with its clump-forming habit is a species that’s more than happy growing and displayed indoors showing off its striking leaves and suits growers requiring an undemanding plant. They also make an attractive choice of plants displayed on balconies and patios when temperatures are warm enough.

 It’s all about the foliage with this one. The green elliptic leaves display pinkish-colored stripes from the midrib. The midrib is also pinkish in color, although this and the stripes will turn white when the plant matures. These leaves fold up slightly when nighttime arrives, giving a grower the feeling of the plant being alive. The leaves grow at the top of the stalks and reach up to 30 inches tall.

It is tender, with a minimum temperature of 16 °C (61 °F) required, and it is cultivated indoors as a houseplant in temperate areas. It requires a constant temperature of 18–24 °C (64–75 °F), high humidity levels, and bright indirect light. This plant has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit as a houseplant.
