Calathea orbifolia, also known as the Orbifolia prayer plant, is a type of prayer plant that is widespread for its bulky and striking green-striped leaves. Despite its love of humidity, it’s fairly easy to maintain the plant’s requirements in your own home—which is partly why it’s such a beloved houseplant.

Even though Calathea is very attractive, they are often overlooked as foliage plants. This may be because as indoor plants they do take some measure of care. They need some extra maintenance.

Light Requirements

Calatheas flourish in medium, indirect sunlight but bears lower light levels too. Bright sunlight can cause the splendid colors on their leaves to fade, with extended acquaintances likely to burn and scorch their leaves.

Watering Schedule

Weekly Watering

Calatheas adore weekly watering, allowing the top 2' of soil to dehydrate partially. In winter, we recommend watering less frequently to prevent over-watering and root rot.
